Job description

1.  Job Purpose    
The position is required to manage the milkers in using the equipment appropriately to milk the cows while ensuring hygiene and taking care to handle the cows properly

2.   Main Tasks & Accountabilities
Task    Description

Milking Management     

•    Set up milking parlor
•    Distribute milking parlor supplies
•    Supervise the milking shifts and milker’s are following Milking SOP’s.
•    Mark start and stop times for each pen when no meters are installed
•    Make sure treated cows are properly marked.
•    Make sure all treated cows" milk is disposed of properly
•    Change milk filters according to the dairy’s protocol. A good goal is to change filters every 3 to 4 hours of milking
•    Observe milkers to make sure they are performing the proper milking routine
•    Communicate issues or repair items to the  manager 
•    Check the cooler to make sure it is on and cooling properly
•    Milk cows in an orderly and consistent manner
•    After milking, make sure all equipment sanitation procedures are followed
•    Check all bleed holes for manure plugs/clogs 
•    Check all short air tubes for cracks/holes
•    Check all liner milk tubes for cracks/holes
•    Check all liners for proper alignment

 

Other Tasks    

•    Comply with all Company policies and procedures. 
•    Perform all the other tasks and activities as assigned.

•    Ensure all relevant quality, health, security, safety, and environmental policies, procedures and controls are adhered to so that employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality service and a responsible environmental attitude can be guaranteed.
•    Ensure that incidents and hazards are reported in a timely manner and reduce consumption of natural resources to assist in protecting the environment and ensuring a healthy and safe work environment.

Internal     All Department Heads and Line Managers.
External    Stakeholders, customers, agencies etc.

 

4.   Person Specification  (Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience)  
 

Education Level –    Minimum Requirement    

•    High school diploma or equivalent.
•    Diploma in relevant vocational training and successfully completed apprenticeship as a milker.

 

Professional    Qualifications

•    Diploma in animal science

 

Work Experience    

•    Proven experience of 3 years as a milker

 

Job Specific Skills    

•    Keen knowledge and understanding of the components used in the milking parlor.
 

Generic Skills

•    Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations and guidelines.
•    Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
•    Must be alert, a self- motivator, and attention to detail.
•    Integrity, discretion and loyalty

•    To be based in Al Sunainah
