Job description
The focus of the position HSE Officer is to provide administrative and technical support regarding HSE for the business, including identifying and evaluating risks associated all Blue Waters operation, maintaining the Health, Safety, and Environmental systems, coordinating training programs, campaigns including weekly and monthly safety awareness to facilitate establishment of a safety driven culture complaint to global standards in HSE.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: (Accountabilities under group of headings ex: Business planning, HSEQ, Business Operation, Job Context, etc)
Capable of conducting risk assessments and list all the possible health, safety and environment hazards ways with mitigation plan liaise with Line Manager.
Set up safety operational procedures to the identified hazards in the workplace liaise with Line Manager.
Promoting and maintaining the health and safety (H&S) culture within the company.
Ensure that every staff in the company follows safety policies under the national law and standard requirements.
Implement the practical promotion and maintenance of a worker’s physical, mental, and social well-being.
Should perform routine inspection to work sites based on plan.
Should be capable of Conducting H&S investigations.
Develop standard procedures with regards to topics, such as occupational illnesses, safeguarding company equipment and fire risks etc.
Ensure any variances from approved processes or standards are identified early in the process, addressed, corrected, and verified to eliminate the risk.
Ensure that the company disposes of all waste and hazardous substances safely.
Identify root causes of process deviation that leading to non-Conformities and address them by closely working with process owners.
Oversee the health and safety aspects of processing plant and farm staff, and escalate issues identified including near misses to the QHSE department and Plant Head timely to minimize work related injuries and accidents.
Coach the staff for the implementation of HSE plan with strict adherence to the technical procedures and process standards.
Continuously monitor the facility and premises for any pest activity/infestation that may potentially contaminate the product, packaging, and food contact.
Assist and actively participate in fire safety and emergency response team etc.
Record all workplace accidents and incidents related to environmental & health, and safety for reporting and statistical purposes.
Preparation of incident investigation reports on issues related to environmental & health, and safety issues in liaison with line manager.
Timely systematic documentation and record of weekly and monthly inspections.
Ensure compliance to all relevant quality, health, safety and environmental procedures, instructions, and controls so that the safety of employees, quality of products/services and environmental compliance can be guaranteed.
Lead Continuous Health and safety improvement initiatives, specifically targeting to minimize LTIs.
Conduct in-house H&S training for employees.
Timely closure of non-conformities raised in the internal audits in liaison with Line Manager and Process Owners.
Qualifications:
Minimum bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Safety, Fire Safety Engineering, or relevant discipline.
Minimum 3 years working experience in HSE role.
National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (NEBOSH) as a minimum requirement.
Experience:
Working experience with ISO health standards, ISO: 45000 (OHAS) will be an added advantage.
Skills:
Skill in both written and spoken communication: you’ll need to explain H&S concepts and procedures to a variety of audiences.
Negotiating ability: you’ll need to convince supervisors and managers to implement safety standards that can affect the speed and efficiency of the company’s operations.
Diplomacy: the job requires patience to secure everyone’s cooperation.
Analytical: you’ll need to understand complex ideas while presenting them in simple but accurate terms.
Experience of working with a multi-cultural, multi-lingual workforce will be an added advantage.
Effective Communication and reporting skills. (Arabic and English)
Computer skills: MS Office, Outlook etc.
